Check an instrument's trade-size specification

MT4

  1. Connect to the correct trading account and server.

  2. Open Market Watch.

  3. Right-click the instrument and select Specification.

  4. Review minimum volume, maximum volume, volume step, contract size, margin requirements and trading sessions.

MT5

  1. Connect to the correct trading account and server.

  2. Open Market Watch.

  3. Right-click the instrument and select Specification.

  4. Review Volume min, Volume max, Volume step and the other contract details.

The order ticket may also display or enforce the permitted volume.

What happens when a limit is reached?

If the account already has 500 open and pending orders combined, another order will not be accepted until an open order is closed or a pending order is cancelled.

An order may still be rejected below the 500-order limit because of insufficient free margin, an invalid volume step, an instrument-specific limit, market status, trading hours, price or liquidity conditions, or an account restriction. Read the exact platform message before trying again.

Do not split an order into smaller orders merely to bypass a displayed restriction.

Does the maximum guarantee execution?

No. A permitted maximum is a technical limit, not a recommended trade size or a guarantee that an order will be accepted or filled at the requested price. Liquidity, market movement, gaps and execution conditions can affect the result.
